There is a lot of pressure as well. So my job as a skipper is just to make sure they feel comfortable on the ground. When they are about to execute what they have to execute with the bat or ball, our job – myself and the coaching staff – is to make sure they’re very clear in their roles. As long as you make it very clear for them, that’s all you want.”The Eliminator in Chennai ended with Rohit patting Madhwal on his head and wrapping him in a hug under the fireworks as Mumbai progressed to the second Qualifier.”Actually my strength is my yorker,” Madhwal said after the game. “Rohit (brother) knew what my strength is. As a captain, he used me exactly where the team needed me. Later on, I bowled at the nets with the new ball too. So he then thought I can bowl with the new ball too. In the practice matches, I had done well to take wickets with the new ball. In the places where he felt confidence in me, he gave me the ball. And I proved myself. I’m very chilled out and relaxed and I’m having fun because I’m pursuing my passion. Rohit keeps me calm and chill and backs me. Other than that, I am enjoying my cricket.”Madhwal has given up engineering – and his job – to become a professional cricketer. In his first full IPL season, he has already turned heads with the ball and his composure. On Friday, he has another chance to knock Gill over in Ahmedabad and put Mumbai on the verge of a sixth IPL title.
