Kane and Diaz both scored as Bayern beat Stuttgart to start the season with victory in the Super Cup. Diaz celebrated his goal by paying tribute to former Liverpool team-mate Jota and copying his famous celebration. The goal was Diaz's first official effort for Bayern since joining the club this summer from Liverpool.

Premier League clubs have also been paying tribute to Jota across the country as the new 2025-26 season kicks off. Kane spoke about the tributes after Bayern's win and the importance of the footballing world coming together at such a difficult time.

Kane told reporters: "Luis obviously played with him and knew him well. I think the whole football world comes together in moments like that. It was a nice tribute to him and his family and his brother. That whole situation obviously is a sad situation. The more we can come together and show our love, I think the better."
