“We bowled really good lengths overall, from ball one,” Shankar said. “And the most important thing was we kept picking wickets in regular intervals, which gave us momentum. We were able to restrict them to 139 because of the way we bowled.”
Playing only his second T20I, Shankar said it was an advantage to begin his international career in a team that has tasted much recent success. Including Thursday’s victory, India have now won seven of their last nine T20Is.
“The team management plays a huge part. They just gave us all the freedom and they just ask us to express ourselves, which is very important at this stage.”
